HAMPDEN CREAMERY -the property of the Taieri and Peninsula Milk Supply Company, Ltd occupies a site on the main road at Hampden. The building is of wood and was erected in 1890 by the New Zealand Dairy Supply Company, the present company having purchased it in 1896. The creamery is equipped with two DeLaval separators and the plant is worked by a five horse power Tangye engine. About 90 farmers supply milk and about 1000 gallons are put through daily. This opens up a lot of other questions - sounds like his parents were farmers on the peninsula here if he started at Portobello. Do remember Mum talking about the Maoris on the Kaik and also at Moeraki. That was how she could count to five in Maori and it is still about all the Maori I know! Do not think we know what the parents names were to look up.
On the basis of the following death notice we can presume that Robert Wilson's parents were Thomas and Dorothea Wilson who lived in the Herbert district.
WILSON.-On the 18th February, at Herbert,
Dorothea Wilson, dearly beloved wife of Thomas Wilson; in her fifty-second year. Deeply regretted
